Using rlftool to Create or Edit a Redundant License File

rlftool is a command line utility for Windows and UNIX. On a Windows computer, use rlftool from within an MS-DOS window. However, you may find using the Windows-interface WRlfTool program more convenient than using rlftool.

If you are editing an existing redundant license file, to avoid synchronization problems because someone else is adding licenses in the redundant license file while you have it open, we recommend you make a copy of the file under another name, make your changes, and then rename it back to its original name when you are done. The changes you make to the redundant license file will not take effect until you copy the changed file to a redundant License Manager in the pool (or edit it directly on the License Manager using the precautions discussed above) and then restart that server.

Using the rlftool Menu

Options	Description
-h	(Help.) Displays list of rlftool options.
-l filename	Load or create a redundant license file.
-a <server name> <ip address>	Add the License Manager specified by the host name and IP address given to the redundant License Manager pool.
-d server-name	Delete the License Manager specified by the host name from the redundant License Manager pool.
-A license-code	Add the specified license code to the redundant license file. Enclose the license code in quotation marks.
-F license-filename	Add the license codes contained in the specified text file to the redundant license file.
-D feature version	Delete a license code from the redundant license file for the specified feature/version.
-p pool-name	Change the redundant License Manager pool name to the one specified. May be 8 characters.
-s sequence-#	Change the sequence number of the redundant license file. (A mismatch in sequence numbers triggers transmission of the redundant license file to the other redundant License Managers when the License Manager on which this change is being made is stopped and restarted. Not necessary except in extraordinary circumstances, because this is handled for you automatically.)
-t time-stamp	Change the time-date stamp of the redundant license file. (A mismatch in time-date stamps triggers transmission of the redundant license file to the other redundant License Managers when the License Manager on which this change is being made is stopped and restarted if the sequence number is the same in all of the redundant license files. Not necessary except in extraordinary circumstances, because this is handled for you automatically.)
-R report-filename	Write the redundant license file contents to the specified file.
-C conflict-report	Write any conflicts between token allocation and License Managers to the specified file.
